Platform is an all-inclusive skateboarding company that I concepted, created, and designed. Focused on positivity, community, individuality, and gender neutral clothing, the brand brings new light to the skateboarding industry.
Inspired by shapes found at the skatepark, Platform’s mark is iconic and full of energy. The upward motion not only mimics the sport of skateboarding, but it speaks to Platform’s goal of elevating all skateboarders. The three dimensionality of the mark plays off of the name Platform, and helps to make the mark memorable.
The main catalyst for this project was that women skaters are rarely considered in the skateboarding world. Most large skate companies do not sponsor women skaters or offer gear for them. As a result, women exclusive skate companies have formed.
The objective with Platform is to close the gap between men's and women's skateboarding. I achieved this by creating an all-inclusive skate brand. Platform's focus is to elevate and support all skaters through creating a community around the sport.
The advertisements for Platform embody what the brand is all about―community, positivity, and fun. This is achieved through the tone of the photography, showing people skating together, and creating community.
When designing clothing for Platform my goal was to offer gender neutral garments. I designed a line of t-shirts, as well as longer tunic tops, and 5 panel hats. This way every one can feel comfortable while skating.
